Influenza A - H1N1 swine flu

This is a new influenza A virus that spreads from person to person easily by coughing and sneezing and contaminated hands or surfaces. It is not spread by properly handled food and drinking water. At present time it is believed that people are contagious 1 day before they develop symptoms to 7 days after they get sick.
Signs of swine flu are: fever, sore throat, cough, headache, joint and muscle pain, runny nose, vomitting, diarrhea. The majority of people who are ill recover at home without antiviral therapy. Treatment recommendations are: resting, drinking fluids, taking paracetamol or ibuprofen for fever and pain.
It is necessary to seek doctor if fever continues more than 3 days and if you feel difficulties to breath or your child has fast and labored breathing.
